Hi, I’m Simone

I WORK IN COmmunications

As the Manager, Communications at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), I lead the production of engaging and informative digital content for the web, reaching thousands of readers as well as AGO visitors and members. Foyer (readfoyer.com) is the AGO's digital magazine focused on promoting art and culture from the AGO and beyond. In this role, I leverage my writing, editing, internal communications, social media, web production, and photography skills to create compelling stories showcasing the art of the AGO Collection, exhibitions, programs, and other initiatives.

With over eight years of experience in communications, I have a passion for bridging art and culture through digital platforms. I hold an MA degree in Fashion from Toronto Metropolitan University, where I focused on fashion and racial identity, and a Bachelor of Fine Art (Hons) degree from Queen's University, where I studied visual art, art history, and French. I have also worked as a Senior Product Copywriter at Hudson's Bay Company, where I wrote and edited product descriptions and marketing copy for thebay.com, and as a freelance writer for several publications in the Canadian fashion industry.

I’ve been featured on Into the Gloss (read here) and Serve Your Truth (read here).

Simone is an excellent and valuable employee at HBC and was a dependable and cooperative colleague during our time at Ryerson University.

Her work ethic is second-to-none: She is a thorough and methodical worker, always seeing projects through to completion in her prudent and careful manner. She’s great at prioritizing, perseveres at her tasks and is entirely responsible and trustworthy.

As a teammate, Simone is a natural mentor and has a great deal of patience. She has a steady and calming influence on her colleagues, and they appreciate her collaborative focus. Simone is a fast learner, and I often rely on her to complete additional projects beyond her daily responsibilities.

Further, her innate creativity is an asset to any team, and she always takes pride in a job well done.
